Barking healers are claiming to be able to rid patients of aches
and pains - simply by squeezing between a pair of "magical" tree trunks.

Hundreds of believers have made pilgrimages to the beech trees in
Kostunici, Serbia, to be cured by local druids who claim they can
harness 'natural magic' from the earth.

Patient Branko Lazic explained: "I've had crippling back pain for years and the doctors couldn't do anything to help me.

"But all I had to do was pass between these two trees and the pain faded away. It's a miracle."

Druid Zoran Ratkovic, 48, says the roots of the tree allow the planet's
"healing power" to travel up its roots and flow into the patients as
they pass through the twin trunks.

"It is well known that certain regions or parts of the world have
magical powers deep in their foundations. These tree roots go very deep
and allow us to tap into that power," he claimed.

Now local authorities are to recognise the trees' healing powers.

"We are going to put a fence around them to protect them. So many people
want to be treated we're worried they could be damaged," said a town
hall spokesman.
